Kara Rubio
Kara is the Healthy Schools PA program coordinator for Women for a Healthy Environment (WHE). Kara received her Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and has experience working directly in and with schools as a former program coordinator for non-profit organizations focused on before-and-after school programs and special education.
Kara joined WHE in 2018 and is passionate about creating green, safe, and healthy learning environments for children in the Southwest Pennsylvania region through engaging curriculum, strategic planning, and technical assistance for schools and school districts.
Michelle Naccarati-Chapkis
Michelle is the first executive director of Women for a Healthy Environment (WHE). In this role, she leads the organization’s strategic activities, focusing on prevention of human health problems linked to environmental risk factors.
She brings nearly 20 years of experience working with community stakeholders; national, state, and local governments; foundations; corporations, and non-profit organizations.
A frequent guest speaker at health and environmental national, state, and local conferences, Michelle’s expertise and insight are often sought by regional media.
She serves on the Plum Borough Zoning Hearing Board, Rock for the Heart Board of Directors, and co-chairs both the Girls Coalition of Southwestern Pennsylvania and the PA Green and Healthy Schools Partnership’s Health and Wellness Task Force.
Michelle is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and completed post graduate work at Duquesne University’s School of Law.
